Earlier this month, Massachusetts’ largest technology trade association, Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council (MassTLC), named Vesper ‘Connected Product of the Year’ at the region’s most prestigious technology awards, the 21st Annual Leadership Awards Gala. The event took place at Boston’s Seaport World Trade Center where Vesper CTO Bobby Littrell and CEO Matt Crowley walked away with another accolade to add to their award shelf in 2018.
The award recognizes Vesper’s technology as one of the best and brightest from the Massachusetts tech ecosystem. Vesper’s VM1010 is the first wake-on-sound MEMS microphone that consumes nearly zero power — allowing consumers to voice-activate
battery-powered smart speakers, smart earbuds and TV remotes without draining the battery.
The road to this award win was long. Starting back in June, the Vesper team was asked to demo its latest technology, the VM1010, in Waltham, Mass., for the first round of judging. Vesper’s Staff Applications Engineer, Michael Tuttle, and CEO, Matthew Crowley, had just 5 minutes to demonstrate how Vesper MEMS microphones represent a radical shift from capacitive MEMS microphones to a team of judges. The duo exhibited how Vesper develops the world’s most advanced and reliable acoustic sensors, showcasing its VM1010, the first MEMS microphone to bring voice activation to battery-powered consumer devices — while drawing nearly zero power.
In July, 15 award categories were narrowed down to select finalists that highlighted the vitality, innovation and importance of the region’s internationally respected technology industry. Vesper was chosen as just one of four other tech innovators in the category of ‘Connected Product of the Year,’ placing Vesper among an elite few.
Finally, on October 3, Vesper was selected as a winner of the category from hundreds of nominations and evaluated by peer review panels that together totaled close to 60 executives, investors, analysts and thought leaders.
The team is honored to be recognized as a leader among the best and brightest in Massachusetts technology, and can’t wait to expand our voice in 2019.
