World’s First Digital Piezoelectric MEMS Microphone
Vesper is now leading the path to digital MEMS microphone evolution with the launch of its first Pulse Density Modulation (PDM) output piezo microphones. All the core features of Piezoelectric technology are now built into a digital MEMS package with PDM output to enable even more applications in consumer electronics. PDM output enables multiplexing of two microphones on a single data line and offers designers flexibility in positioning and routing of the microphones due to its high immunity to radio-frequency interference (RFI) and electromagnetic-interference (EMI). Available in standard 3.5mm x 2.65mm x 1.3mm package with an in-built Analog to Digital Converter (ADC), our first digital product , VM3000, enables widespread use of piezo microphones in applications such as Smart speakers, headsets , hearables , TV remote controls , Smart home appliances and Smartphones to name a few.

It is waterproof, dustproof, particle-resistant and shockproof so you can immerse it in water, bathe it in dust, expose it to particulate matter or drop it on the ground, and it keeps working properly. Ideal for microphone arrays in always listening devices
Built on our piezoelectric MEMS technology, VM3000 extends our product portfolio to meet the needs of digital interfaces in consumer electronics. PDM digital output offers higher noise immunity compared to analog and is being widely adapted in the industry to connect directly to a codec or an application processor with digital input. VM3000 takes the audio signal from the Piezo MEMS element, amplifies it and samples at a very high rate, converting it to a single-bit stream PDM using a fourth order sigma delta modulator. VM3000 offers fast wakeup and tight sensitivity matching along with rich acoustic performance specification and multiple power consumption modes.
For always-on always listening devices , ultra-fast wakeup of less than 200 µsec on VM3000 provides wakeword detection accuracy twice as good as capacitive mic arrays when used in combination with Vesper’s ZeroPower Listening™ technology. Capacitive microphones have a startup time in the range 10-50 msec , making them a bottleneck for fast voice activation. With fast startup, tight sensitivity matching and environmental robustness , VM3000 enables a new era of durable high performance piezo MEMS microphone arrays built for the next generation wired and wireless audio applications
